In every profession the tools you use always have their pluses and minuses. WordPress is no exception to this. However, there is one huge reason in favor of using WordPress, it is the #1 Content Management System by market share by a 10x margin over its nearest competitor (see the table below).
WordPress is the 800 lb gorilla in the CMS jungle. You never ignore an 800 lb gorilla.
You may recognize a CMS listed below and wonder why they have such tiny market share. My hunch is that they have a huge $$$ marketing budget, with glitzy video advertisements showing pretty people looking happy with their website built with their CMS.
WordPress.org doesn’t advertise.
IMHO, I suspect the reason WordPress is 10x more popular than its nearest competitor is due to its search engine friendly nature, flexibility, reliability, customizability, and relative ease of use. Yup, stuff that really matters, it’s not sexy, but, it works very well for most organizations.
