Simple Ideas to Improve Your Website’s ROI
A good website will connect with its audience. To do this you need to do your homework, know what your audience wants, and organize your content in ways that make it easy to navigate.
Figure out who you really want most to interact with. Think to yourself, if your organization was a person who would their best friends be? What would their interests be? What do they need and/or want?
Next, you’ve got to know your own personal style, and be aware of the style that your organization wants to promote. Bringing those two together successfully can become the essence of successful branding and communications.
But wait, there’s more! With millions of websites fighting for the same viewers I think you have to do a little bit more…
Stand Out From the Crowd
Even if your market currently has only a few competitors, just having “useful” content won’t get you too far.
Your website’s job 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year is to improve communication, gain market share and increase your audience engagement.
To do this it can’t just be “useful”, and it can’t just be “informative”. You want your website to have a personality, maybe even be a little bit entertaining, and occasionally surprising.
You want to capture your audience’s attention and keep them thinking of you or your organization long after they’ve left the site.
WARNING
Whatever you do, don’t try to please everyone. You’ll end up with a website that is boring and uninspiring.
If you have uninspiring content even the cats in cat videos will get bored and fall asleep. Wait… no! Fluffy, not here! Noooooo!
NOTE: As a “dog person” if I could have found a video of a dog going to sleep I would have used it. Cats seem to have better agents…
Your ultimate goal is to write and create audio and video that finds that “happy space” where your organization’s perceived personality and that of your ideal audience meet and feed off of each other.
Like best friends separated for years having a chance meeting on the street, there is an unspoken connection that is instantly familiar and welcoming.
