Trude’s students and their parents wanted to use their smartphones to get information on classes, download forms to sign up, check the calendar for performance and practice schedules, and to see photos and videos of their past performances. Using a new color scheme was also required.
Her business’s Google Calendar now displays on the website. She and her authorized teachers can make changes to the Google Calendar and the website displays it in an easy to read format for all of the students and parents to see. Also, whenever a new article is published on the website it sends an email to subscribers telling them of the new post.
The website now allows her to essentially embed PDF files within her pages or posts. She can now be sure that her students have a copy of the studio’s handbook and rules. She can continue to use her favorite word processor to create forms and then simply upload them to the website as PDF documents for her students to read and print.
I gave Trude and her office manager several hours of coaching and advice on “best practices” to follow for SEO and usability. I showed them how to easily create photo galleries. I also made sure to show them that adding video via links to YouTube and other providers was simple to do as well.
